NOTICE REGARDING COVID-19:

Ingham County is following the State of Michigan's and Ingham County Health Department's recommendations in preventing the spread of the COVID-19/coronavirus to protect the overall public health of our citizens, families, and employees.

Effective at 7:00am, Tuesday, March 17, 2020, all county offices, including the Road Department,
will be closed through April 5, 2020.  Only essential and critical services will be provided at this time.

Please report EMERGENCY road issues by calling 517-676-9722.
All other road concerns should be emailed to:  roads@ingham.org
PERMIT APPLICATIONS shall be emailed to:   permits@ingham.org

Responses to phone calls and emails will be
reviewed and prioritized based on public safety.

What We Do...

The Ingham County Road Department (ICRD) is governed by the Board of Ingham County Commissioners. For information regarding the Ingham County Commissioners and public board meetings please visit the Board of Commissioners website.
 
Our Goal
 
To provide the best, safest, most effective and cost-efficient road system possible to the people of Ingham County.
 
Responsibilities
 
The ICRD is responsible for more than 1,253 miles of roads outside incorporated cities and villages throughout Ingham County. Through the efforts of its more than 70 employees and 450 pieces of equipment, those roadways are cleared of snow and are kept in good repair. In addition, the ICRD is responsible for traffic signals, flashing beacons, bridges, road signs and culverts within county road rights of way throughout Ingham County's 550 square miles.

Roadside mowing
Traffic signs and signals
Pavement markings

Pothole patching
Design of roads and bridges
Construction inspection
Subdivision plat review
Traffic studies
 


The ICRD's primary responsibility is to provide reasonably safe roads through proper construction and maintenance. Safety is the ICRD's top priority.
